Biografia

Evelin Schlaak-Jahl started at the 1976 Olympics as Evelin Schlaak and then, after her marriage to her teammate Norbert Jahl, as Evelin Jahl in 1980, winning the women's discus title both years. She also won the 1979 and 1981 World Cup, the 1978 European Championship, and the 1978 European Cup. Domestically she won six consecutive titles from 1976-81, and broke the world discus record six times. After her active career she became a sports administrator in the Law Commission of the Track & Field Association of the former GDR (1984-90) and with the IAAF Arbitration Panel (1984-91) until the political changes in Germany. She then worked as an economic consultant. In 2010 it was revealed that Jahl had been spying on her teammates as Interner Mitarbeiter (IM / Internal Employee) "Karin Reger" on behalf of the GDR Ministry for State Security, the Stasi.
