Speed skater Erhard Mayke was 24th over 500 m at the 1928 St. Moritz Winter Olympics, and withdrew over 5000 m. At the German Championships, he won the title in the all-round with a clean sweep in all four races in 1927 and in 1928 he was second . Mayke set three German national records, one in the 1000 m and two in the all-round. In the 1928 World Championships, he finished 19th. Mayke had another appearance at the 1936 Olympic Winter Games, when he was a timekeeper in speed skating. In World War I, he served in the Prussian cavalry. In 1916, he was wounded almost losing his left arm. After the war he worked in a coffee roasting shop.
