Agostoni won the gold at Amsterdam with 3 out of 3 wins for the national team in the final round (10-6 against Belgium, 9-7 against France, second, and 9-6 against Portugal, third). In 1932 he was 3rd with 7 victories, one draw (which was possible back then) and 3 defeats in the competition won by fellow Italian Giancarlo Cornaggia-Medici, who only had one win more. He also won one gold (1937) and one bronze (1938) at the World Championships, and one silver (1930), also in the team épée event, in the European Championships. He also won 3 individual Italian titles (1930, 1931 and 1941).
