Boris Kramarenko took up wrestling in 1967 and wrestled in the Greco-Roman featherweight class his entire career. Kramarenko made his international début at the 1978 European Championships, placing fourth. The high point of Kramarenko’s career was at the 1978 World Championships, where he won gold. Kramarenko competed at the 1979 European Championships, where he was also fourth and at the 1980 Olympics, winning bronze. At the Soviet Championships, Kramarenko won titles in 1978, 1980-81, taking silver in 1977 and bronze in 1979. After retiring from competition, Kramarenko worked as a wrestling coach in Rostov-on-Don.
