Biografia

Georgian Amiran T'ot'ik'ashvili was one of the best extra-lightweight judokas in the world during the late 1980s, but decided to retire from competition after the fall of the Soviet Union when he was only 22-years-old. During his brief career, T'ot'ik'ashvili won the 1988 Olympic bronze, was World champion in 1989, and was twice European champion (1988-89). He also won bronze at the 1990 European Championships and golds at the 1989 Universiade and 1990 Goodwill Games, and was Soviet extra-lightweight champion in 1988-89. After finishing his sporting career, T'ot'ik'ashvili worked as a judo coach in his native Georgia and was head coach of the Georgian national judo team from 2009-2010.
