The Albertville 1992 Youth of the World programme was the first international youth camp held under the Olympic Winter Games banner.

It provided the model for other similar Olympic initiatives, including the Dream Programme set up for PyeongChang 2018 and the Snowlets Camp at Nagano 1998.

In the four years leading up to Albertville 1992, a total of 1,992 elite young athletes from 166 countries around the world were invited to the Savoie Mont Blanc region to try their hand at different sports and to engage with each other.

Aged between 15 and 21 and selected by their National Olympic Committees, the athletes were organised into seven delegations and took turns to visit the region in the summer and winter months between 1988 and 1991. They took part in activities such as climbing, mountain biking, skiing competitions and aerial sports and also attended concerts and other cultural events.
