Most of the women’s races and all the Alpine combined races at the 2021 FIS Alpine World Championships were held on the Olympia delle Tofane run, which hosted the men’s downhill race at Cortina d’Ampezzo 1956. The run has been staging FIS Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup races for the last 28 years and will be used for the Alpine events at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
Cortina d’Ampezzo also provides the venue for a number of Nordic skiing competitions, the FIS Snowboard World Cup and the Freeride World Tour, among other major skiing and snowboarding events. Over the years, it has staged more than 100 FIS World Cup skiing and snowboarding races.
In the town itself, the Olympic Ice Stadium (now known as the Stadio Olimpico del Ghiaccio) continues to operate as a multi-purpose complex serving local clubs and the community. The venue for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, figure skating competitions and some ice hockey matches at Cortina d’Ampezzo 1956, it staged the 2010 World Men’s Curling Championships and will host the curling competitions at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. It provides year-round skating facilities for the general public and for various local sports clubs.
