Among the departments working together to ensure the smooth running of the Games are venue management, health and safety, sport and technology.
The TOC will supervise all 144 Olympic competition and non-competition venues at an 800m2 centre with the support of a Technical Technology Operations Centre in Barcelona, Spain, overseeing Games results systems as well as accreditation.
In addition, Brazil’s security forces will monitor the city with the help of international partners from an Integrated Command and Control Centre while the federal government will oversee healthcare services from the Integrated Centre for Joint Healthcare Operations.
The MOC switched to 24/7 operations once the athletes began arriving and the Olympic Village opened on 24 July. The centre will run until the Paralympic Village is closed in September.
