Job Description
This role based in the Olympic Channel Services is vital in keeping our productions running smoothly. You will need versatility and to be very agile, from scheduling shoots and coordinating logistics to managing bookable services like equipment rentals and service providers/vendors. By analysing production needs, you will translate them into resource requirements, defining the level of service needed for each aspect and creating a feasible production design. Utilizing project tracking tools, you'll keep everything on schedule and ensure deliverables are met. To excel, you will need a strong understanding of production operations, from technical infrastructure and workforce management to liaising with service providers. This role is responsible for supporting the International OIympic Committee (IOC), Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) and Olympic Channel Services (OCS).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Schedule technical and production services for the organisation’s departments and Broadcast Partners to facilitate content creation of long or short form features, the delivery of the television signal or streaming to the organisation and more.
- Oversee the planning and execution of live sports event transmissions, ensuring all broadcast requirements are met.
- Source equipment and services from vendors, supporting the procurement process, raising, and tracking Purchase Orders.
- Manage the allocation of external and internal technical resources such as Broadcast facilities and Equipment, satellite uplinks, fibres, turnarounds, Internet circuits, SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) or similar codecs, network ports, IP addresses, and human resources are booked for events.
- Administer booking requests, create Work Orders, maintain accurate booking data entry and records of booking schedules, cost of services, use of resources equipment and production facilities, assignment of Satellite/Lines recording and Ingest chains.
- Negotiate contracts with broadcast service providers and equipment suppliers.
- Coordinate the scheduling of live transmissions to align with event timings and broadcasting slots.
- Ensure the high-quality transmission of live events, including sound and video quality, adhering to broadcasting standards and regulations.
- Develop contingency plans for potential technical issues during live transmissions.
- Provide high level activity reports, resources usage of the Live events, post-production etc.
- Oversee the budget for event transmissions, securing best services and costs effective options for delivery of broadcast signals.
- Maintains crew projection spreadsheets for current and upcoming productions and projects.
- Supports Studio and ENG equipment setup and operation, for live events or camera recordings according to content and programming requirements.
- Managing bookings in bookings software with an eye to operational and transmission details required for Programming, MCA Operators and Archive.
- Reconcile invoices against orders. Maintaining related computer databases.
- Attending and occasionally leading Live Events regular meetings.
- Provide training and support to other users in all departments.
Skills & Requirements
- A degree in broadcast media, communications, or a related field is required.
- 5 to 10 years of international experience in live television sporting events, broadcasting or sports media production.
- Proficient in use of planning and bookings software.
- Excellent communication skills in English for effective coordination with event organizers, broadcast teams, Rights holders, and departments.
- In-depth knowledge of broadcasting technology and live production.
- Strong leadership skills to oversee and direct a broadcast team.
- Ability to quickly resolve technical and logistical issues.
- Keen attention to detail to ensure seamless live event transmissions.
- Knowledge of international television transmission services and service providers worldwide.
- This role is pivotal in delivering live sports action to audiences and requires a professional who can handle the pressures of international live broadcasting with composure and expertise.
- Good understanding of OTT/Digital transmission management a plus but not mandatory.
