International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach joined young people from Lausanne and the surrounding area this weekend at The Olympic Museum to celebrate the 35th edition of Olympic Week, which continues until Thursday 15 October.
President Bach visited some of the 40 free activities on offer to children aged 8 to 15, including boxing, biathlon and climbing. In between chats with members of the public, he also took part in pick-up basketball and korfball games.
The Olympic Museum has organised Olympic Week every October since its first edition in the early 1980s to promote the Olympic values, healthy lifestyles and participation in sport. Olympic Week has grown into a major event in the Lausanne region, with nearly 6,500 participants last year.
