Information for the media – media opportunity at Olympic House on 30 January 2025

As previously announced, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) membership will meet on Thursday 30 January 2025 at Olympic House, Lausanne, for the in-camera presentation by the candidates for the IOC presidency.

Whilst these presentations are closed to media, there will be an opportunity to speak to each candidate after the morning session at a dedicated media opportunity at Olympic House. From 11:30 CET onwards, each candidate will have the opportunity to make a statement in French or English and take questions in the same languages. The total time in front of the media will be 10 minutes for each candidate. Simultaneous interpretation will be available in English and French.

Candidates will speak to the media in the order of the drawing of lots conducted in November. The Q&A will be live-streamed on IOC Media YouTube so that journalists can also follow remotely, although it will not be possible for them to submit questions.

Due to space constraints, the number of available accreditations is limited to 30. Major global media organisations and media organisations from the countries of the presidential candidates will be given priority when distributing the 30 accreditations. Only one media representative per media organisation will be considered. One international agency TV camera and photographer pool will be set up. You will not be able to bring your own camera crew or your own photographer. The pool material will also be made available via the IOC Newsroom and IOC Media YouTube

Media representatives can join us at Olympic House from 10:30 CET. The media working room, Wi-Fi connections and refreshments will be made available for media representatives until 17:00 CET.

143rd IOC Session

On the afternoon of 30 January, the IOC Members will gather for the Extraordinary IOC Session, which will be the 143rd IOC Session. The proceedings will be public and livestreamed, as per usual, on IOC Media YouTube.

The 143rd IOC Session will vote on the host of the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2028,following a decision by the IOC Executive Board on 3 December 2024 to propose Dolomiti Valtellina for election. The IOC opened a Targeted Dialogue with the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) and its partners, with Dolomiti Valtellina as Preferred Host, in July 2024.

Due to space limits, there is no access for the media to the IOC Session room. However, accredited media will be able to follow on a screen in the working room in Olympic House.

There will be a media opportunity with representatives of Dolomiti Valtellina following the IOC Session.

Schedule

  • Media welcome desk opens at 10:30 CET
  • Media working room available from 10:30 until 17:00 CET
  • Media opportunity with the candidates consecutively from around 11:45 CET (TBC)
  • Media opportunity with the Dolomiti Valtellina representatives following the IOC Session.

Please apply here before 17 December 2024 at noon CET if you would like to request an accreditation for this media opportunity. An email will be sent to you once the registration process is complete.
