Change of status
The IOC Session also approved changes of status for two Members.
IOC Vice-President Uğur Erdener’s membership linked to his function as President of World Archery changed from International Federation (IF) to Independent Individual. This will ensure that Erdener can conclude his responsibilities as Chair of the IOC Medical and Scientific Commission, and as an IOC Representative in the Independent Testing Agency (ITA).
Pierre-Olivier Beckers’ membership linked to his function as President of the NOC of Belgium also shifted from NOC to Independent Individual, to ensure that he can conclude his responsibilities as Chair of the IOC Coordination Commission for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
During the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, the athletes can elect two of six candidates standing for the IOC Athletes’ Commission, as approved by the EB in July 2017. The two candidates to be elected by their peers in the Olympic Villages will then be put forward to the IOC Session for election as IOC Members at the end of the Games. Two seats on the Commission will become available, as the current Chair Angela Ruggiero and member Adam Pengilly are finishing their terms of office at the end of the Games.
