The Olympic Velodrome, which existed prior to the Games, was part of the Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens and hosted the track cycling events of the 2004 Olympic Games. The venue was renovated by the Ministry of Culture and included a roof designed by the renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.
Today the venue hosts track cycling meets and is open to sports clubs and experienced cyclists. As the only facility of its kind in Greece, it hosts all national Track Cycling Championships and Track Cycling Cups on a yearly basis.
