Steeplechaser Willi Heyn finished ninth at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. He earned two international caps. He won the German title in 1935-36, and was runner-up in 1938 and 1942. In 1936 he became a member of the German Reich Air Force, and German Luftwaffe Unteroffizier Wilhelm Heyn spent a six-month service in Nationalist Spain (October 1936 - April 1937) as a volunteer in the Legion Condor during the Spanish Civil War.
