Tatyana Ledovskaya was the top female intermediate hurdler in the late 1980s and early 1990s, She was also a decent long sprinter and helped the Soviet 4x400 relay team win many titles. Ledovskaya won a 400 hurdles silver at the 1988 Olympics and then helped the Soviet 4x400 relay team win the Olympic gold with a world record 3:15.17, that, as of 2014, still stands. Ledovskaya won the 400 hurdles and ran on the winning 4x400 relay at the 1991 World Championships, adding the 400 hurdles title and a 4x400 relay silver at the 1990 European Championships. She was heavily favored to medal at the 1992 Olympics, but finished only fourth. Ledovskaya also won 400 hurdles silver at the 1989 World Cup, 4x400 relay silver at the 1987 Universiade, and 400 hurdles bronze at the 1989 European Cup. She continued to compete after the fall of the Soviet Union but with less success. Representing Belarus, she competed at the 1993, 1995, and 1997 World Championships and 1996 Olympics, but did not make any finals. Ledovskaya was the Soviet 400 hurdles champion in 1988-90 and Belarus 400 hurdles champion in 1995-97. After finishing her sports career, Ledovskaya worked as secretary-general of the Belorussian Athletics Federation and also coached the Belarus national team.
