Lou Gage competed as a welterweight at the 1952 Olympics, winning one match and then losing in the second round. He turned professional in January 1952, defeating Ernie Dickson in his first pro fight and winning his first seven bouts, and 10 of his first 11. Gage struggled after that, fighting through September 1958, almost exclusively around San Francisco, and finishing with a career record of 11 wins, 5 losses, and 2 draws. He never fought for a major title.
