बायोग्राफी

Konrad Wirnhier was a skeet sports shooter who won gold medals at the 1965 and the 1967 World Championships, and the 1968 European Championship. He then won two medals at the Olympic Games. At Mexico City in 1968 he won bronze, losing the gold and silver medals in shoot-offs with Soviet Russian Yevgeny Petrov and Italian Romano Garagnani. Petrov won the gold with a clean 25 string, while Garagnani took silver in a second round of shoot-offs against Wirnhier. In München four years later at his home Olympics, Wirnhier took gold, winning the shoot-off against Petrov and Michael Buchheim from East Germany. Wirnhier also won 11 West German titles (1961-69, 1972-73)

From 1962, Wirnhier owned a hunting and sports good shop in München. He was a fanatic rifle producer, constructing his own rifles and guns. He also developed new shooting techniques such as synchronized shooting. He died after a long illness shortly before his 65th birthday.
