Like many other former Soviet athletes, whose career continued after the fall of Soviet Union, Khatuna Lorig represented many nations during her sporting career. Until 1992, she represented the Soviet Union (or Unified Team), with whom she won her only international medals, a bronze in the team event at the 1992 Olympics and European individual and team titles in 1992 and European Championships individual bronze in 1990. After the fall of Soviet Union until 2005, Lorig represented her birth country Georgia, and later became a naturalized US citizen in 2005, having lived in the United States since the 1996 Olympics.
