Hank Kashiwa skiied for the University of Colorado and then was on the Army ski team for two years. He was on the US team from 1967-72, skiing the World Cup circuit from 1968-71, during which time he posted six top 10 finishes. After the 1972 Winter Olympics, Kashiwa starred on the pro circuit from 1972-81, winning the World Pro Title in 1975. In 1976 he placed second in the ABC television Superstars competition. Kashiwa has since had a long career in the ski industry. He has served as a ski commentator for television and later became the President of Volant, a Colorado ski manufacturer. He left that position to become vice-president of marketing for the Yellowstone Club, a private ski area and golf club near Big Sky, Montana.
