Georges Conraux competed as a left-handed fencer at the Olympics as his right arm had been amputated at the elbow, because of an injury sustained from a grenade explosion in World War I. Conraux was Champion des Maîtres d’Armes with the sabre in 1914, fencing right-handed. He was French amateur sabre champion in 1923, and French military sabre champion from1923-26, all left-handed.
