बायोग्राफी

Fred Roethlisberger attended the University of Wisconsin, graduating in 1965, and also competed for the Milwaukee Turners. Roethlisberger starred at the 1967 Pan American Games, winning six medals and four golds, with gold in the all-around, the team event, parallel bars, and horizontal bars. He also competed at the 1966 World Championships.

Roethlisberger became much better known as a coach, coaching at the University of Minnesota for 33 years. During that time he won 11 Big 10 Championships, including five consecutive from 1976-80. He was Midwest Region Coach of the Year five times. Roethlisberger coached his son, John Roethlisberger, who competed at the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympics, and his daughter, Marie, who was an alternate to the 1984 Olympic team. He also coached the United States to a gold medal at the 1994 World Championships and was an assistant coach on the 1992 US Olympic team. Roethlisberger was inducted into the US Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1990.
