At the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, Ernst Geerling was eliminated in the quarter finals of the 100 meters due to an injury. He was German Champion in the 100 metres in 1929 and in the 4x100 relay in 1928, 1931-32, and 1936-37. In 1928, Geerling was British champion with the Frankfurt relay and won the 100 and 200 in 1931 at the Swiss Championships. In 1928 he equaled the world record in the 100 metres once and ran on three world record setting relay teams, running on another relay team that set a 4x100 world record in 1932. He earned six caps, and was later chairman of SG Eintracht Frankfurt (1949-55).
