Clarence Hill is Bermuda's first - and, as of 2008, only - Olympic medallist, making the small British depency the smallest country to have won an Olympic medal in the Summer Games. Hill won his medal by reaching the semi-finals of the 1976 heavyweight boxing tournament, losing to Romania's Mircea Simion. Hill then had a rather anonymous professional career, which he was forced to end (with a 18-3-1 record) when he was banned from entering the United States because of a marihuana possesion offence eight years earlier. Following a divorce, Hill's life went downhill, and he ended up in prison twice, once for cocaine possesion and once for armed robbery. During his second stint in jail, Hill lost his drug habit and was re-schooled as a carpenter.
