Wooden Award, the US Basketball Writers Association Award, and the UPI Player of the Award, all given to the top college player in the United States. Mullin was drafted in the first round of the 1985 NBA Draft, chosen seventh overall, by the Golden State Warriors. He played from 1985-97 for the Warriors, then from 1997-2000 for the Indiana Pacers, before ending his career with a final season back with the Warriors in 2000-01. Mullin was a five-time NBA All-Star (1989-93), and was named NBA First-Team in 1992. During his NBA career he averaged 18.2 points/game and scored 17,911 points. Internationally, Mullin won gold medals at the 1983 Pan American Games and 1984 Olympics, and then was a member of the Dream Team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

After his playing days ended, Mullin worked with the Warriors and later the Sacramento Kings in the front office. He also worked as an NBA analyst on television for ESPN. In March 2015 Mullin was named head coach at his alma mater, St. John’s.
