Biographie

West German hurdler Werner Trzmiel started at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, but failed to reach the second round of the 110 hurdles. Four years later in Mexico City he finished fifth. Trzmiel participated in the 1966 Europeans and was nominated for the 1969 event, but did not start due to the West German boycott.

At the 1969 European Indoors Trzmiel won a silver medal, and one year later placed fourth. In 1965 he earned his only West German title, in the indoor 60 metre hurdles. He trained as a machine construction engineer, but from 1965 studied political sciences, geography and sports in Darmstadt. Trzmiel then worked in high schools in Darmstadt and Offenbach as a senior teacher.

Personal Best: 110H – 13.60 (1968).
