Biographie

Sprinter Ute Thimm started at the 1984 Los Angeles and the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games. She had her best results in the relays (4x100 and 4x400), finishing fourth with both relays in 1988 and winning the bronze medal with the 4x400 in 1984. In the 400 metres Thimm finished sixth in 1984 and was eliminated in the semifinals in 1988. She was of the few West German sprinters starting in both relays at international championships, such as the 1983 and 1987 Worlds.

At the 1986 Europeans Thimm won a silver medal with the 4x400. In West Germany she earned five individual outdoor and four indoor titles, adding one relay title. In 1984 she was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf. Her daughter Ina also became a sprinter. Ute Thimm trained as a social worker but also coached Sabine Braun for some years.

Personal Bests: 100 – 11.31 (1985); 400 – 50.28 (1988).
