Biographie

Taylor Fritz comes from a family with a rich tennis history. His mother Kathy May was in the top 10 of the world rankings in the late 1970s with father Guy Fritz also playing professionally before enjoying a successful coaching career.

The California native had a successful junior career, winning the CIF singles title in his first year of high school. He went down to Tommy Paul in the final of the boys' French Open in 2015 but exacted revenge on his fellow American at the Junior US Open and was crowned 2015 ITF Junior World Champion.

Fritz turned pro after that Junior US Open success and achieved the rare feat of winning consecutive Challenger titles - in Sacramento and Fairfield - in 2016 while still 17. At the ATP 250 event in Memphis, in just his third ATP tournament, Fritz put out number two seed Steve Johnson and went on to become the youngest American ATP finalist since Michael Chang in 1988.
