Biographie

Sebastian HERING

German featherweight Sebastian Hering was second at the 1931 Greco-Roman European Championships and was a gold medal winner four years later. His father was also a wrestler and Sebastian’s first coach. In 1933 and 1934 he won the German national title and at the 1936 Berlin Olympics he finished fourth, losing in the fifth round to Swede Einar Karlsson by a 3-0 decision. After the Games Hering stepped up to light and welterweight. In 1942 he won his third German title, the Greco-Roman lightweight title, and he also eight more podiums in national championships. Hering was a trained fitter and employed by the German Reichsbahn.
