Biographie

Paul Renne was a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army when he competed in the 1964 biathlon. Renne attended Montana State College, where his father, Roland Renne, was the long-time president of the school. In 1963 Roland Renne left that post when he was named the US Secretary of Agriculture for Foreign Affairs. He was later the Democratic nominee for Governor of Montana in 1964, but was not elected. Paul had started biathlon primarily as a cross-country skiier, learning shooting in the military, and placing second at the 1964 Olympic Trials. He lived only a few more years, being killed in a one-car accident near Hays, Kansas in 1970.
