Nancy Ditz ran the marathon at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, finishing 17th. She was US Champion in 1985, winning the California International Marathon, designated that year as the US Championship. Ditz placed second in the US Championship in 1986 and 1988, with the 1988 race doubling as the Olympic Trials, which qualified her for Seoul. At that event, she ran her PR of 2-30:14. She also ran the 1987 World Championships, finishing seventh. Ditz won the 1982 San Francisco Marathon, the Los Angeles Marathon in 1986-87, and was a three-time champion in Sydney’s City-to-Surf Marathon.
Ditz graduated from Stanford in 1976. She later worked as a weekly columnist for San Francisco newspapers, and was a color-commentator for several major television networks. Ditz has served on various boards and committees at Stanford and was the meet director of the annual US Open track meet at Stanford. Ditz was also a board member at USA Track & Field.
