Biographie

Leslie SAVAGE

Leslie Savage won a bronze medal with the British team in 1920 in the 4 x 200 m freestyle relay. Four years later he was a member of the team again but was only nominated for the first round, and was replaced in later rounds by John Thomson. A member of the Penguin SC, Savage was also an excellent long-distance swimmer, making the podium at the British Championships in the River Thames swims in 1922-24. In 1923 he was runner-up in the Southern Counties mile championship and third in the National half-mile championship. He was also second in the English Salt-Water Championship at Torquay. Savage was a keen water polo player and played for the Penguin team as well as for Lloyds Bank, who he worked for, and also the combined London Banks team. He was still swimming and playing water polo for Lloyds Bank at the age of 37.
