Biographie

Shot putter Kathrin Neimke won two medals in her three Olympic appearances, winning a silver medal in 1988 for the former GDR, and a bronze medal in 1992 for the reunified German team. In 1996 she finished seventh. At the World Championships she won a silver in 1987 for East Germany and a bronze in 1993 for reunified Germany. In 1990 Neimke added another bronze to her collection at the European Championships. She was East German champion in 1988 both outdoors and indoors, and also German champion outdoors in 1992-93 and indoors in 1995.

Neimke was educated as an economic merchant, but later worked as a repro photographer at a daily newspaper. After German reunification she joined the country riot police of Saxony-Anhalt.
