Biographie

Jim Corson, of the College of the Pacific and the Olympic Club of San Francisco, placed third in the 1928 Final Trials and went on to take the bronze medal in Amsterdam with a personal best of 154-6 (47.10). He also won the NCAA discus throw in 1927. After graduating from Pacific, Corson earned a master’s degree at Southern Cal and became a well-known educator. He later returned to Pacific as track and football coach, but was promoted almost annually eventually becoming dean of the college. He later was president of Willamette College in Oregon and received honorary doctorates from both Pacific and Willamette.
