Biographie

Isabel de Navarre, of Spanish origin, started figure skating at the age of three, as did her elder sister Yvonne. Isabel won the West German national title in 1975, and also finished second in 1972-74 and 1976. In her time, she was considered the World’s best skater in compulsory figures, and won this element at the 1976 Innsbruck Olympics. However, her free skating let her down, and she eventually finished fifth.

She was sixth at both the 1975 and 1976 World Championships, and participated in four Europeans, with a fourth place in 1976 her best result. Isabel later became a technical specialist for the International Skating Union (ISU) and also enjoyed a long career as a graduated coach.
