Biographie

Herbert BRÜCK

Herbert Brück, also a field hockey player, competed with Bar Kochba Berlin beginning in 1931 and he actually played bandy before switching to ice hockey. In Wien (Vienna) he played ice hockey with Wiener EV and was later with the Berliner Schlittschuhclub, winning national titles with both teams. He also played, later in his career, with Brandenburg Berliner and Berlin City. With the Austrian national squad Brück won the 1927 European Championships in Wien and repeated this feat in 1931, when the team claimed the bronze medal at the World Championships as the best European team. He played with a European selection against Canada in 1927 alongside his brother Walter. While Walter was a defender, Herbert was a gifted center. In 1924 he was nominated for the Austrian ice hockey team that was withdrawn from the Olympic tournament at the last minute.

Brück worked in Berlin for a few years as a senior accountant in a bank. He ended his club career in 1933, but represented Germany at the 1936 Winter Maccabi Games. Brück was interned at Sachsenhausen during World War II, but survived. He may have moved to England later in life.
