Biographie

Race walker Hans-Georg Reimann was a four-time Olympian from 1964-76, winning the silver medal in the 20 km in 1976, when he was also the flagbearer for East Germany at the Opening Ceremony. He had won a bronze medal in 1972. He won another silver medal at the 1962 Europeans, was disqualified in 1966, and finished fifth both in 1969 and 1971, all over 20 km. Domestically Reimann earned five East German titles. He also set three world records.

Reimann was first educated as an engineer for measuring and control technology, but he later worked as a race walking coach. After German reunification he became a distribution agent for pharmacies. He was the brother-in-law of his teammate Christoph Höhne, after marrying his sister Ingrid.
