Biographie

Born to a well-off family, Gustavo Huet’s father was a lawyer. Gustavo’s greatest success was the silver medal in Los Angeles in 1932 in small-bore rifle. He competed again at the 1936 and 1948 Olympics in the same event, placing 7th and 30th, respectively. In 1938 he won a gold medal in rifle shooting at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Panama. His special technique was to shoot with both eyes open.

Huet joined the police force and became a member of the highway patrol in 1936. He was killed by a drunk driver in 1951 while working as a police officer at the Carrera Panamericana car race. His brother Guillermo also competed in Berlin 1936 in rapid-fire pistol.
