Biographie

Georges de la Nézière was from a Parisian family and had two brothers who became well-known painters and illustrators, Joseph and Raymond, with Raymond exhibiting under various names, including Robert, René, and Raoul. Georges was a wild child and was sent to a Dominican boarding school to control him, which worked well. After his 1896 Olympic appearance he joined the Army in 1899, and began working with armored cars. Leaving the Army in 1901 he attended Rouen Business School, but also starting racing cars, including at the 1901 Paris-to-Berlin race.

During World War I, de la Nézière was called back to the 11th Company, 26e Régiment d’Infanterie. In October 1914 he was killed by machine gun fire in the forest of Mouchy, near Arras.
