After the 1924 Olympics, George Dempsey rode, and won, a six-day race in Sydney in 1925. He then emigrated to the United States and continued to ride professionally in six-day races from 1928-1937, racing over 30 times. This included wins in Oakland in both 1936 and 1937, with Canadian Lew Rush. He also placed second at Philadelphia in 1932 and 1934, Cleveland and Louisville in 1935, and at Minneapolis in 1936. Dempsey also rode a six-day in Paris in 1935, but did not finish.
