Biographie

Georg Lammers won a bronze medal at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics in the 100 metres and the silver medal with the sprint relay, alongside Richard Corts, Hubert Houben and Helmut Körnig. Lammers won eight German titles and set 13 world records at different distances. Disappointingly he was not nominated for the 1932 Los Angeles Games. After his athletic career Lammers was first educated as a bank clerk, but then as a policeman and eventually became a superintendent. He was substantially involved in setting up German police sport after World War II. He was also a founding member of the “Vereinigung alter Leichtathleten” (Association of Former Athletes). His daughter Senta later became a nationally successful sprinter.
