Biographie

Betty Becker took up swimming as a child as therapy after a serious illness. She then turned to competitive diving and, after narrowly missing selection for the 1920 Olympics, won a gold and a silver medal at the 1924 Games. After the Paris Olympics she married Bud Pinkston, winner of the platform title in 1920. Betty Pinkston gave birth to twins in 1926 but, coached by her husband, won her second gold medal on 11 August 1928, the second birthday of her twins. In addition to her Olympic feats, she also won six AAU titles.
