Biographie

David Price was the first teenager to win the ABA Super-heavyweight title when he won the first of his three championships in 2003. He failed to qualify for the Athens Olympics after he was defeated in the quarter-finals of the 2004 European Championships by Italy's Roberto Cammarelle and he was also eliminated from the 2005 World Championships at an early stage, Price was much more successful at a lower level of competition within the British Commonwealth and in 2006 and 2007 was successively Commonwealth Games gold medalist and Commonwealth Boxing Federation champion. A potential rematch with Cammarelle at the 2007 World Championships could not take place because Price suffered a hand injury in his previous bout and was forced to qualify at the final Olympic qualifiers. At Beijing he scored an impressive victory over European champion Islam Timurziyev then was guaranteed a medal when his Lithuanian opponent was forced to retire from their quarter-final with injury. The Olympic semi-final finally reunited Price and Cammarelle in the ring but it was not an even fight and the Italian was a comfortable winner. Price made his début as a professional in 2009 and remains unbeaten as of the start of 2012.
