Biographie

Dan Veatch swam for Princeton University. He was US champion in both backstrokes at the 1984 US Long-Course Nationals. In addition to his Olympic appearance Veatch swam for the US at the 1986 World Championships, winning gold in the medley relay, at the 1987 and 1989 Pan Pacific Championships, and at the 1991 Pan American Games. He won gold in the 200 back at the Pan Pacs in both 1987 and 1989, adding a medley relay gold in 1987. He won silver in the 200 back at the 1991 Pan Ams.

Veatch later became an open water swimmer, competing in several events in California, and competed in masters swimming events. Openly gay, he won nine medals at the 1998 Gay Games. In 1996 he earned an MBA from U Cal Berkeley. He then worked as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Petkevich & Partners in the Bay Area from 2001-03, and then as CFO at GCA Advisors, a global economy company.
