Biografía

Vivi-Anne Hultén was Sweden’s greatest female figure skater prior to World War II. She won the Swedish title five times from 1927 on. Internationally she medaled four times at the World Championships (1933, 1935-37), with her best performance coming in 1933 as a runner-up to the unbeatable Sonja Henie in Zürich. She also won two bronze medals at the European Championships (1930/32). She turned professional in 1938 and skated with the Ice Follies originally. Married to her partner in the show, Gene Theslof, she also toured with the Ice Capades in Europea and the United States. They later settled in the United States and taught skating in the Carolinas and Tennessee. They then opened a skating school in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1964. Her husband died in 1983, and after suffering a stroke in 1995, she relocated to California to be near her son.
