Biografía

Because Korea was, at the time, occupied by Japanese forces, his participation at the Olympic Games was recorded under the Japanese name of Ri Seitoku**.** Lee Seongdeok won two distance events at the 1933 All Japan Speed Skating Championships and based on this, also the all-round championship, while attending the Dong-A Commercial School. In the following year, he clinched the title in the 1,500 m, when he was already a student at Waseda University, and placed second in the all-round. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1936 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Lee competed in all four events with his best place (16th) in the 500 m. During his trip to the Games, he also competed at the European Championships in Oslo. He lived in Seoul and later served as chairman of the Korean Ice Skating Federation.
