Robert Andersson was a four-time Olympian between 1906 and 1920. In 1906, 1908, and 1912 he competed in diving, he swam at all four Olympics from 1906-20, and he played water polo in 1908-20. His one silver (1912) and two bronze medals (1908, 1920) all came in water polo. At the national level, Andersson won 23 championships in swimming. He was a champion in life saving and won 17 championships with Stockholms KK in water polo. Robert, Erik, Adolf and Selma Andersson were siblings, and they all competed in one or more Olympics in swimming, diving, or water polo. Unlike Charlotte Wersäll, who allegedly had six children as Olympians in 1912 (in fact, there were only three active and one official), the mother of the Andersson siblings never received any award by the IOC, which was publicly criticized in contemporary newspapers for the Wersäll award.
