Born in Perth, Western Australia to Korean parents, Minjee Lee discovered her passion for golf at 10. Inspired by her mother, who worked at a local driving range, her talent quickly emerged.
In 2010, Lee was just 13 when she became the youngest winner of the Western Australia Amateur Open. She went on to win the 2012 U.S. Girls Junior Championship and claimed consecutive Australian Women's Amateur titles in 2013 and 2014.
In 2014, she turned professional, making her debut at the Evian Championship. The following year, she won her first LPGA Tour title at the Kingsmill Championship in Virginia.
While still a teenager, Lee claimed her second LPGA win at the Lotte Championship in April 2016. Months after her 20th birthday, she went to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games where she finished tied for seventh, eight strokes behind gold medallist Inbee Park.
