Biografía

While Leon De Lathouwer narrowly missed out on an individual medal in the 1948 Olympic road race (he placed fouth), with his team mates in 3rd and 12th, he won a gold medal in the team event. The following year, he won the Belgian amateur and military titles, before turning professional in 1952. Cycling for minor Belgian teams, he rarely raced abroad. His most important victories were two wins in the Flemish Championships (1953 and 1955). He died after a long period of illness at 78.
