Biografía

Cyclist Karl Neumer finished the 5000 m track race at the 1908 London Olympics with an unknown result. He won a bronze medal in the men’s sprint, and alongside Hermann Martens, Max Götze and Richard Katzer won a silver medal in team pursuit. Neumer competed for RV Wanderlust 1888 Dresden. In 1907 he was German champion in the 1000 metre time trial. His 1908 bicycle was one of the first exhibits at the newly opened Leipzig Sports Museum in 1977.

Neumer later started a professional cycling career, but with little success. He then opened a vegetable shop in Dresden, which was completely destroyed in a bombing raid in 1945. Neumer died in 1984, at 97-years-old, at the time the oldest living German Olympic medalist.
