Biografía

For Justin Thomas, golf is a family tradition. His grandfather, Paul, was a club pro who contested two PGA Championships and a US Open and played with Arnold Palmer on the PGA Champions Tour.

Father Mike, another club professional, introduced Justin to the game and doubles as his swing coach.

Justin Thomas: from prodigy to world number one

While still at high school, the 16-year-old Thomas made the midway cut at the 2009 Wyndham Championship, becoming the third-youngest golfer to make a cut on the PGA Tour.

After graduating from St. Xavier High School in 2011, he excelled at the University of Alabama. In his freshman year in 2012, he won the Haskins Award as the nation's top collegiate golfer. The following year, he led the school to its first NCAA national title.

He turned professional on 2013 and earned his Web.com Tour card through qualifying school. He scored his first pro win at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship in July 2014. After finishing fifth on the regular season money list and going third after the tour finals, he obtained a PGA Tour card for 2015.
